Moth Statement Necklace

All of my work is a reflection of what is going on in my life, whether I like to admit it or not. Haha! I was inspired to make this piece after I kept seeing moths and butterflies. It was like the universe was trying to show me something, so I got curious and did some research on what they symbolized. I’m not sure if you guessed it or not… because I definitely had a “duh” moment once I realized it… but they symbolize transformation. Which is absolutely what is happening in my life, and has been at break neck speed, for the last year. So I really felt compelled to make this piece based off of that.

This necklace is 24” long which makes it perfect if you want to layer it with other necklaces, or wear it alone as a statement piece. The moth itself is 2.25” wide and 1.5” long. This moth has been constructed from sterling silver, fine silver, copper, and 24k gold that I fused using a Korean metal smithing technique called Keum Boo. I set a piece of lavender turquoise onto it.
